Community Energy Wales conference

Abergwaun Community Turbine  is one of a number of  renewable energy projects providing funding for community development in towns and villages across Wales, and so TBG was asked to contribute to this year’s Community Energy Wales conference, held at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth on 11th and 12th June.   Paul Cowley, TBG’s senior project officer, joined a panel of speakers,  outlining the many benefits that renewable energy can bring to communities and exploring ways that community projects can help meet our future energy needs, alleviate fuel poverty, and improve community resilience to climate change.

Paul said ‘The positive impact that community energy projects like our turbine are bringing to communities across the country is incredible. We know we can do much more locally and want to work with others in our community to do even more. Our aim is  to  generate enough renewable energy to power the whole of Fishguard and Goodwick by 2035. Drop in at  the office on Wednesdays 4 – 6pm or Thursdays 11am – 1pm if you’d like to learn more.’
